Auchinlee

Auchinlee

Auchinlee Care Home was opened in 1952 and has been providing residential Care to Older people throughout Argyll for over 60 years. In June of 2012 we became a designated Dementia unit.

Auchinlee is a beautiful Victorian mansion house situated in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Campbeltown, with spectacular views of Campbeltown Loch.

Within Auchinlee we understand the importance of outside space and being able to get out and about in the Garden. So with this as one of our aims we have maximised our large grounds by adding an easy to access garden that you can enjoy with raised flower and vegetable beds so you can continue working in the garden or enjoy one of the plentiful quiet areas to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and the views out over Campbeltown Loch.

The rear garden is used by the Campbeltown Organic Community Garden Project and has been beautifully set out with areas of interest. This is a great place to visit with your visitors especially the young ones.

Our aim in Auchinlee is to provide a Quality of Care for those with Dementia, that incorporates the principles of Privacy, Choice, Dignity, Independence, Rights, and Fulfillment, and which encourages you to retain and regain the skills of living, plus to have the opportunity to learn new skills, thus enabling an enhancement of your lifestyle.

We will achieve this by giving you your own personal care worker called a Key-Worker who will work with you and your family to develop your life story. This story will help staff get to know you and your past life and interests. From this they will then be able to work with you to develop a holistic individual care plan that will enable you to fulfill your current wishes and ambitions.

We recognise that family is a very important part of your life and here in Auchinlee we encourage them to continue being involved and to visit you and take you as before. You are also encouraged to invite them to help you celebrate special occasions and to join you during functions within the service.

Auchinlee incorporates all the advantages of a beautiful old mansion house with the benefits of modern accommodation. We have been extensively modernised and upgraded and have 2 separate lounge areas on the ground floor plus a small quiet room on the first floor where you and your friends or family can meet and chat if you do not wish to use your own room. Both of the ground floor lounges have panoramic views overlooking Campbeltown Loch.

With over 60 years of experience we understand that the Dining experience is an important part of your daily life. With this in mind we have a bright and well lit separate Dining room. We have used recent research that has shown that, calm, smaller and easy to recognise environments can encourage older people to eat, to establish a flexible approach to breakfast and to create a system of two sittings for lunch and tea thus only ever having 12 people in the room at a time, thus creating a more intimate, relaxed environment.

Personal Accommodation
We have 24 single bedrooms all with En-suite facilities and private direct dial telephones. All our rooms are suitable for those who use walking frames, wheelchairs or who may require assistance from the use of mobility hoists etc.
Your room will be decorated individually and furnished to a high standard. You will be encouraged to personalise your room with your own furniture and other personal items you are particularly fond of. We recommend that you organise your own personal possessions insurance as this is not covered by the service. All our rooms have either a view over Campbeltown Loch or a pleasant outlook onto the Garden at the rear which has been landscaped and is used by the Campbeltown Organic Garden project.

Keeping Involved
In Auchinlee we believe that keeping active and involved in the local community is an important part of your life, to help us keep you in touch with local events we have the use of our own Mini-bus. This is used for short trips and shopping, runs out round Kintyre or further a field for morning and afternoon coffee or days away for lunch. We also take part in the local organised events and concerts

The cost of Auchinlee is £810.00 per week for a single room with en-suite facilities. This cost is reviewed yearly in April. This charge covers all your personal care needs including toiletries etc, all meals, snacks & tea, coffee etc. Plus your utility bills like heating and calls. The only other costs are those for private arrangements of News papers, Hair Dressers / Beautician/ Chiropodist, Ticketed Outings, Dry Cleaning or other personal services you may wish.

You can fund the cost in one of two ways:

· Social Work Department
· Self Fund (private) – If you self fund you can apply for the free personal care allowance.

Auchinlee or your Social Worker will assist you in choosing the correct form of payment.

Prior to admission you will be asked to sign a contract between the service and yourself. This will set out what you can expect from the service and what the service expects from you.

Please contact the Service Manager Jill Slater if you would like further information or to arrange a visit to the service.
