Salary Description

Salary pro-rata of 38.5 hours per week.


Responsible to

Service Leader


Main Function

The Homemaker will assist in the day-to-day care needs of service users.


Main Duties

1. Attend to all Housekeeping duties in the Unit

2. Cook and serve meals

3. Attend to laundry

4. In consultation with the Service Leader, take responsibility for budgeting for food, cleaning materials etc. and keep appropriate records

5. Guide & direct service users in developing Social Skills

6. Promote equality

7. Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse

8. Promote communication with service users

9. Support pupils when they are distressed

10. Ensure the health and safety and security of individuals and their environment.

11. In consultation with the Service Leader ensure appropriate Risk Assessments are undertaken.

12. Be part of the weekend and holiday cover rota.

Through the direction of the Service Leader be committed to ensuring that quality assurance systems are adhered to.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Attend meetings, training courses and seminars as requested.

Participate in staff development programmes and be committed to ongoing professional development.


Skills and Abilities

Essential: Postholder must possess basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet.

Desirable: Some experience in managing budgets.
