Inside out: Faith Driven Action - Conference Information

“Inside Out: Faith Driven Action” – Saturday 22 November, Motherwell

Church and Society and CrossReach are joining together to run a national Church of Scotland conference on how faith drives people to engage in society and the role of faith in local and political involvement.

This is the first time the Councils have joined together to run an event of this nature, and both have welcomed the synergy arising from such new a venture.

Peter Bailey, Chief Executive of CrossReach:

“CrossReach welcomes this opportunity to work alongside Church and Society to guide the Church in pioneering new approaches to relevant problems in society – through working together our message and ability to provide care and support to the most vulnerable in Scotland can only be made stronger.”

Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, Convener of the Church and Society Council:

“The remit of Church and Society is to engage on behalf of the Church in the national, political and social issues affecting Scotland and the world today. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with CrossReach to encourage church members to take action in their communities and challenge the inequalities they see around them.”

Worship will be led by the Moderator, the Rt Rev John Chalmers and speakers will include Paul Morrison (Joint Public Issues Team), Kathy Galloway (Christian Aid), Peter Bailey (Chief Exec, CrossReach), Sally Bonnar (Convener, CrossReach), and Sally Foster-Fulton (Convener, Church and Society).

There will also be the opportunity to share stories and best practice with delegates from other congregations.

Workshops will be available on the following topics:

·         Let’s Get On: churches and digital participation

·         The Church and Divestment: should we divest from fossil fuel companies?

·         Scotland’s Future Now: beyond the referendum

·         Learn-Link-Love: Serve Your Local School

·         Money, Money Money: the way we use our wealth

·         Prayer and Partnerships : From small seeds good things grow

·         Two are better than one: Practical ways you can support CrossReach
