A 36 bedroom house dedicated to caring for older people with dementia.

St. Margaret’s House is a specialist care home for up to 36 people who have dementia and are no longer able to live safely at home.

Our aim to provide an environment that encourages you to take as much charge of your life as possible. We’ll do everything we can to help you retain and regain skills and interests, and make every day as good as it can be.

The house sits in its own grounds, next to a local park on the outskirts of Polmont. We’re easily reached by bus and train, and there are plenty of amenities within walking distance.

Accommodation you can feel at home in
We have 36 attractive single rooms, each with ensuite facilities. You are welcome to bring your own furniture to your bedrooms to help to create that ‘home from home’ feeling.

Our spacious and welcoming communal areas are yours to enjoy – whether to socialise or relax. There are two attractive lounges and a television lounge. We use the large lounge for a variety of activities and entertainment, as well as morning devotions and a weekly Sunday afternoon service led by various local churches.

In the dining room you can look forward to a range of nutritious home-cooked meals, which cater for all tastes and dietary requirements.

Individual Care Plan
When you arrive at St Margaret’s House, you will be allocated your own Key Worker who has the special responsibility to co-ordinate your care. We do this by drawing up an Individual Care Plan with you and your family and friends if you wish. We review this regularly to ensure we are delivering the highest quality of life and care for you.

Family involvement
Relatives and friends make an important contribution to life at St Margaret’s House and the wellbeing of their loved on. We encourage visits as often as possible.

Activities
Our activities coordinator arranges a wide variety of activities including:

  • Reminiscence
  • Quizzes
  • Craftwork
  • Musical activities
  • Gentle exercise group

We like to get out and about too. Our trusty minibus is used for outings on seagull canal boats, the safari park, Bo'ness Railway, South Queensferry, Garden Centres and more.

Community Involvement
Being involved in the community is key to keeping life as normal as possible for our residents. When our Circle of Friends visit, they offer entertainment and assistance, but also bring news from the local area which residents enjoy. Other groups visit regularly and we take residents to local activities and clubs.
