Beechwood House

Beechwood House is a substance misuse service providing residential rehabilitation, community outreach, support and social care, to men and women with alcohol and drug issues.

Beechwood House is situated close to the Beechwood Business Park area in Inverness.  It sits in its own grounds and garden, and has a private car park.  It is easily accessible from the city centre and has good local amentities.

The service is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

Beechwood House is seen as an integral part of the overall strategy, within the Highlands, to provide services for those individuals with substance misuse issues.

Service Aims and Objectives

The  staff in the residential unit at Beechwood House aim to assist individuals to return to their communites free from alcohol and drugs.

The Community staff aim to support and educate family members of substance misusers, therefore, enabling individuals to reduce their substance misuse, and if appropriate to enter rehabilitation.  The Community staff can where appropriate work with Service Users after completing the programme, to continue with their recovery plan.

The Residential Rehabilitation

The residential service provides up to fourteen  places, eight of which are funded by NHS HIghland, in a safe, comfortable, alcohol and drug free environment.

Programme
Through a structured programme incorporating group-work, key working and structured use of free time, we will assist service users to confront issues in their lives which have contributed to, or resulted in, their misuse of alcohol and/ or drugs. We offer a 2 week and 14 week programme.

Family Involvement
This will depend very much on the Service Users' wishes and circumstances.  Service Users are encouraged to establish contact with family and relatives, if they wish.  When appropriate, families are encouraged to visit the Service within designated times. Occasionally, other family members are involved in Key Working meetings.

Community Involvement
Residents are encouraged to attend mutual aid meetings, which take place in the community.   Voluntary work is part of the programme and this is to encourage people to get back out into the community and regain confidence and social skills.
