Care home residents get creative on the theme of 'mend and make do'

Nature images drawn on slate

The residents of Clashfarquhar House care home have a regular 'reminiscence session' where there is always good chat about memories and times gone by.

Recently, they were talking about how they used to "mend and make do".

This then inspired a unique idea for a craft session: slate was identified as an item that could be reused in a different way and the residents enjoyed creating nature scenes on the slate, using the natural slopes of the medium to give a whole new dimension to their craft session.

The residents hope to display their art work in the garden to be enjoyed by all during the better weather.

Clashfarquhar House is a CrossReach residential care home in Aberdeenshire offering accommodation and day care for older people in a stunning coastal location.
