Listening, learning, loving it!: the parents

Mother talking to her son

We met with two mums whose children, having previously attended a range of schools, have flourished since joining Erskine Waterfront Campus.

So, what sets Erskine Waterfront Campus apart?

Two key factors are size and flexibility, with smaller class sizes and a personalised curriculum:

‘It's just so much more suitable for somebody like my son: the hours, the staff that are trained to deal with the behaviours, the timetable, just the whole setup, even the actual building itself… He's just so much more able to cope in a place like that.’

The mums told us that having a curriculum based around the needs and interests of their children is of vital importance to them and that it has given them confidence that things are set at the right pace and can be adapted as needed to support their child in achieving their goals and progressing with their education.
They shared their delight that not only are their children supported to attend school, but that they want to go because they are happy there and enjoy spending time with their friends and teachers.

‘He absolutely loves it there!’

‘He’s getting up and ready for half 8 to go to school, when he never used to do that.’

One of the mums noted that building a positive relationship with their teacher has been instrumental in how their child has settled in at the school and that it has helped motivate them to try out new experiences and activities.

It’s clear from the conversation there is strong teamwork between the pupils, their families and the school, with parents finding the educational staff to be knowledgeable, accepting, supportive and approachable:

‘The school are always very open with me to listen to my suggestions and discuss, you know, ways for him to progress. They're always very good with that.’

Parents used the same word to describe Erskine Waterfront Campus. Simply put - ‘It’s amazing.’
