Rebuilding lives in a space that is safe - Moderator's Time Day 3

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland reflects on visiting CrossReach Whiteinch Move On Service today [02.11.2022]

Despite the inclement weather, there was a genuine and authentic warmth of welcome by people living at Whiteinch Move On Service and by the staff.

The stark reality of the lived experiences shared by the people who met with the guests attending was both humbling and moving:

  • "I'm looking forward to a happy life - a sober life - a straight life."
  • "I never thought I'd see 50 and now I'm looking forward to 60!"
  • "This place has given me a foundation."

A staff member also emphasised that the support offered to the people living at the service runs over into the employee team. She shared:

  • "I feel safe, secure and cared for - there is a ripple effect of family and love."

The sense of family was truly tangible.
