In 1983 CrossReach opened Scotland’s first specialist dementia care home at Williamwood House in Glasgow.
Today we have seven dedicated dementia care homes across Scotland, and we are still showing the way in dementia care.
All our care homes offer a loving and homely environment, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our staff have specialist experience and an enhanced level of training that ensures we can make life as comfortable, stimulating and fulfilling as it can be. We take time to get to know each person in our care, and plan activities to match their individual interests, knowledge, experiences and skills.
Specialist dementia support
In every CrossReach care home you will find a dedicated Dementia Ambassador, who has enhanced skills and knowledge in dementia care. Their role is to promote best practice, support colleagues and provide a point of contact for families and carers of people living with dementia. We also host dementia clinics in all our dementia care homes. They are run by our specialist dementia team, who are on hand to offer advice to staff, answer questions and provide training for families on caring for a loved one with dementia.
Respite care
If you care for someone with dementia, you may be facing big decisions about the moment they move into a specialist care home. We know this isn’t an easy step, but respite care can help to make the transition easier. By staying with us for a short period of time, the person with dementia can get a feel for life in a care home, while you all get to know the staff and other residents.
